Most lightweight displays these days use plastic. These can be durable, but product displays are usually require to last only as long as the products they are meant to display, after which these displays are essentially trash. Plastic displays, therefore create unwanted pollution, unless recyclable plastic is used. On the other hand, cardboard displays are inherently recyclable and even when finally trashed is biodegradable.
